In 1966—in the town of Saerbeck in Northern Germany—master tiler, inventor and entrepreneur, Werner Schlüter, established his own tile installation company. Inspired by his passion, he began to contemplate how tile and stone could be installed and finished to last its intended lifetime.

Half a century on, Schlüter-Systems’ integrated solutions for waterproofing, underfloor and surface heating, and wetroom specification are the trusted companions of tile and stone in prestigious projects throughout the world. The distinctive orange theme evident across many products, as well as the company’s branding, harks back to Werner Schlüter’s colour of choice for the tape that he used to identify his tools on site, providing an enduring reminder of where it all began.

Preventing damage to a surface covering is but one aim of Schlüter-Systems’ work—there is a bigger picture of preservation. Concealed beneath the beautiful book-matched marble of Admiralty Arch’s wetrooms, their products provide an additional reassurance particularly important in a project of this calibre—that the very fabric of this historic landmark will remain unscathed and protected for many a year to come.
